During 2001-2002 while doing ethnological field research in Mandla (Madhya Pradesh) as a team member of the Oversees Development Institute, U.K, Dr.Babul Roy has discovered more than a dozen of prehistoric archaeological sites (of Mezolithic period) from the region.
The discovery is immensely significant to the understanding of prehistoric archaeology in India vis-a-vis in Asian and world context, as 20th Century modern materials (modern porcelain and bottle glass) are found to be used along with stone in manufacturing microliths (mesolithic tool types).

Captions: (a) on the extreme left - micro-blades/flakes on EPI (electrical porcelain insulator material), (b) on the 2nd from the left - different EPI types used in microlith making, (c) on the 3rd from the left - a micro-blade core on bottle glass, (d) on the extreme right micro-chips resulted from microlith knapping process.

As in contemporary India bullock cart (a pre-historic transport) and computer (a 21st Century technology) are continuing side-by-side, in historic or in pre-historic India a similar mosaic of old and contemporary technologies survived simultaneously.

This dicovery opens fresh debate on the practice of stereotype prehistoric chronology construction based on typology or/and cross-sectional representative prehistoric findings and also raises several academic questions.

Intention of this website is to share some of the unpublished but important stories and materials related to the discovery.
